The Story of a Ghanaian Social Entrepreneur

At age 18 in 2009 after completing high school, I decided to start up a project that would inspire hope in my peers. I therefore stepped forward to create ROFLM-GHANA. I had a conviction that it was going to succeed. With no experience in establishing organizations and in project management, I was determined to still make it work. I stepped forward to get some online materials that really helped. I also received experience by volunteering on other projects that really gave me the juvenile experience to start mine.

I was determined and therefore unwilling to allow the challenges in rural Volta region serve as a gap between my vision and its accomplishment.

We work towards improving the capacity of the Ghanaian youth to be able to efficiently identify social problems and employ innovative means towards solving them

We are working towards seeing a more proactive and vibrant youth that seeks to focus their strength as critical thinkers and problem solvers in creating an effective, operative and independent community that meets their needs.

A majority of Ghana’s population are young people who form the major working force. Young people have been recognized as playing an active role in moving Ghana from a low-income developing country to a middle income country

Youth entrepreneurship ventures initiated and led by young people in the cities of Ghana propelled Ghana’s success nine years into the 21st century.  A critical assessment of the rising industries in places like Accra gives strong evidence of this. This youthful drive had an impact on me and I was also inspired to create a venture that empowers rural young people in the Volta region to also aspire, identify and create economic opportunities whilst Educating, Empowering and Engaging young people in implementing visionary solutions to communal challenges.

Ghana’s development is not uniform across all 10 administrative regions and therefore there are unequal opportunities for youth nationwide, especially when most of such opportunities are locked up in the big capital city and few major towns. This deficiency is where my organization seeks to make an impact.
